Entensys Corporation, an expert in content analysis, protection from web threats, and email security, today announced that UserGate UTM has been recognized as an Excellence Award finalist in the Best UTM Security Solution category for the 2017 SC Awards. Finalists are recognized for outstanding leadership and providing superior security products to the cybersecurity industry. Winners will be announced at the SC Awards 2017 ceremony to be held February 14, 2017 in San Francisco.
“Ransomware, nation-state cyber attacks, IoT vulnerabilities, data privacy issues and more are dominating the headlines right now and it’s critical that we amplify the importance of these problems and highlight the actions organizations can take to safeguard their organizations and their critical data assets,” said Illena Armstrong, VP, editorial, SC Media. “As bad actors are constantly changing strategy, so too are the men, women and companies endeavoring to stop them in their tracks. These finalists have shown that they are the best at what they do.”
Given the continuous convergence of the market, it has been decided to retire some categories this year and integrate a number of individual categories from previous years into this unified threat management (UTM) category. The former categories – Best Enterprise Firewall, Best Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System Product, Best IPsec/SSL VPN, Best Anti-Malware Gateway and Best Web Content Management – are now integrated here. Incidentally, UserGate Web Filter, the predecessor to UserGate UTM, previously won awards in the category of Best Web Content Management.
“As a finalist, Entensys demonstrated unique innovation in its approach to protecting companies from the onslaught of malicious attacks and other threats,” added Armstrong of SC Media. "UserGate UTM represents some of the most effective security technology on the market today.”
As formerly, contenders in the UTM security category were required to take an “in-depth” defense approach. Entrants should have an integrated, multifunction endpoint/UTM offering – not a single-function product. These products typically aggregate a wide variety of threat data into a single unified tool. Many organizations define those threat categories as anti-malware, content management, IDS/IPS and spam filtering, along with firewall/VPN. Entrants should meet this minimum functionality and can include anti-malware gateway, anti-spam gateway and anti-phishing gateway, as well as provide web content filtering for laptops, desktops and, optionally, servers that blocks or filters objectionable websites and content.
UserGate UTM, which combines a wide set of functions and demonstrates a new approach to developing UTM solutions, was selected by the jury as one of the best solutions of the year. In addition to UserGate UTM, the finalists in this category were products from SonicWALL, Sophos, WatchGuard, and 5nine Software.
The SC Awards program, now in its 20th year, is recognized throughout the industry as the gold standard of excellence in cybersecurity. Winners in the Excellence category are determined by an expert panel of judges, hand-picked by SC Media’s editorial team for their breadth of knowledge and experience in cybersecurity industry. The Excellence Award honors the professionals, products and services that have proven to be the best in the industry for protecting today’s corporate world from an array of risks and threats.
Since 2010, Entensys has been developing a new platform capable of providing effective traffic analysis at high speeds. In 2013 this platform served as the basis for UserGate Web Filter, a solution for telecom operators and universities, and 2016 saw the release of UserGate UTM, a comprehensive online security solution businesses of any size.
